Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5

Uncertainty. Just the word stirs up fear. We can cope with almost anything if we know what’s coming and can get mentally prepared, right? But what about seasons when we are left in the dark and haven’t a clue about what will happen next? Ah, that’s when panic sets in.

David wrote out his prayer song, “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long” (Ps. 25:5). [The Hebrew word used here](https://biblehub.com/hebrew/571.htm) for truth means, “certainty, stability, truth, rightness.” Life felt very uncertain to David. He cries out for Yahweh to guide him, and he’s looking for certainty.

> You are safe in the care of the Lord.

David then continues by writing, “My hope is in you.” The Hebrew word that is translated _hope _here carries the idea of being bound together with the Lord. It reminds me of Abigail’s words to David when he was angry and threatening to kill everyone in the household of Nabal: “Even when you are chased by those who seek to kill you, your life is safe in the care of the Lord your God, secure in his treasure pouch” (1 Sam. 25:29 NLT). Friend, even when life feels uncertain, you are safe in the care of the Lord, securely held in His treasure pouch. That is where your hope lies. Nurture your hope by staying aware of His presence through your day.
