61 Bible Verses About Evangelism

header for 61 Bible Verses About Evangelism

Christians are called to love others, and what better message of love could we share than the good news of the gospel of Jesus? We are called to share the gospel, and this is called “evangelism.” For some, evangelism has a bad reputation, but it shouldn’t be this way. What does the Bible say about evangelism? Let’s look.

Old Testament

Psalm 105:1
“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!”

Isaiah 12:4
“And you will say in that day:
‘Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.’”

Ezekiel 38:23
“So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

New Testament

Matthew 4:17
“From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”

Matthew 4:19
“And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’”

Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 9:37–38
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’”

Matthew 10:7–14
“And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. As you enter the house, greet it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.”

Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Mark 8:35
“For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

Mark 10:29-30
“Jesus said, ‘Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.’”

Mark 16:15
“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’”

John 13:35
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 14:6

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”

John 20:21
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.’”

Acts 1:8

‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

Acts 20:20
“How I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house.”

Acts 26:22-23
