God instituted marriage on the very first week of creation; after seeing all of creation and declaring all of it good, God saw that man was without a mate, and said for the first time that something was not good (Genesis 2:18). The unity of man and woman in marriage is unlike any other relationship and is sacred before God. The beginning years of marriage are an important and formative time of one’s life, so setting a precedent of following the standard God set in place are crucial for success. These verses highlight essential verses on marriage and key characteristics that Gods’ people are called to live out in relationships.
