God cares about the posture of our hearts. He cares about if we are pridefully entitled or humbly grateful. We don’t really deserve much of anything, do we? And it is so easy for us to be ungrateful and struggle with feelings of entitlement. What does the Bible say about gratitude and being grateful for the blessings we receive? Let’s take a look!

What Does the Bible Say About Gratitude?

Old Testament

Only fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

for his steadfast love endures forever!

let us rejoice and be glad in it.

call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.

Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.’
