God wants peace for His people and His creation. It’s at the core of why Christ came to the world—to redeem people from their sin and set creation on a trajectory of peace. As a result, Christians are called to be people of peace and unity so that many may come to know the peace and love we find in Jesus. What does the Bible say about peace?

Old Testament

Leviticus 26:6
I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. And I will remove harmful beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land.

Numbers 6:24-26
The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Psalm 4:8
In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 29:11
May the LORD give strength to his people!
May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Psalm 34:14
Turn away from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

Psalm 37:37
Mark the blameless and behold the upright,
