One of the most prevalent themes throughout the Bible is that of “the kingdom of God.” It may be confusing to some, as it is a deep and rich theological concept. Understanding it is important because of its centrality to not only the ministry and teachings of Jesus Christ, but really to the entirety of God’s Word. Because of its centrality, the Bible says a lot about the kingdom of God. Let’s explore some of the verses that mention or allude to it.

Old Testament

1 Chronicles 29:11
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.

Psalm 24:10
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory! Selah

Psalm 45:6
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.
The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;

Psalm 103:19
The LORD has established his throne in the heavens,

Isaiah 9:6–7
