It be difficult to trust God sometimes, even as we believe in Him and His good purposes for our lives. It can feel like He is absent in times of trouble. It can feel like He doesn’t care. But He is present, and He does care, even when we don’t sense Him and His love. Let’s look at a bit of what Scripture says about trusting God. He is faithful; we can trust Him.


What Does the Bible Say About Trusting God?

Old Testament

Psalm 9:10
And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 13:5­–6
But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 16:1
Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 27:3
Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident.

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!

Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,

Psalm 56:3–4
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

What can flesh do to me?

Psalm 62:6–7
He only is my rock and my salvation,

Psalm 73:25
Whom have I in heaven but you?

New Testament

Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
