Obedience to God’s law has always been a sign identifying His people. Though people have always fallen short of perfect obedience, God sent Jesus, His Son, as the perfect obedient sacrifice for our shortcomings. Now, those who have faith in God obey His commands not to earn salvation that has been provided in Jesus, but because they love Him. God’s people are called to be set apart, different than the world, and holy. Though this is a challenge that we may sometimes fail in, Jesus Christ has first obeyed and walked before us; He does not require from us that which He has not already done Himself.
